Chris and I decided to take a trip for our 7th wedding anniversary (I can't believe it's been that long). We booked two nights at a resort in Scottsdale with a water park. We thought, "We'll do dinner, the temple, some shopping, swimming, and sleeping in. This will be great."
Then, Thursday, Bryson got hold of a dishwasher detergent package. He swallowed some of the powder and all heck broke loose. I called poison control; they panicked and told me to rush him to the hospital. I couldn't because I had Kiley, Chris was out of town, and Nana was in a meeting. Since Ki and Bryson can't be in the same car, I called my good friend Hope. She rushed over to watch the older kids. What a great friend!
I took Bryson to the hospital and Chris and Nana came to help. We are standing outside and Bryson breaks out in this awful rash. We rush him in the give him Benadryl and never do understand why the rash came. Thankfully, his breathing stayed great, they released us, and we promised we were still going to the temple.
My mother-in-law came to take care of the healthy kids, my mom was here to take care of Kiley, and Chris and I went to Mesa. We had a good time except for the chronic worry about my kids. The temple was beautiful! It will be great to have one here. We left the temple and got a phone call that Ryan had come down with chicken pox! This is so rare we can hardly believe it. Only 2% of vaccinated children get chicken pox. Why my kids are the 2%, no one knows.
Obviously, we cut our trip short and came hope this afternoon. Thanks moms for letting us go for the night. We couldn't have done this without you. Seriously, what would the world be like without great moms.
Everyone seems okay, but now we are just waiting to see if Bryson gets it. We pray hard he doesn't. Some of the side effects sound really scary. His birthday is in a couple days, and I can't believe what a long first year this little man has had.
Also, let this be a lesson to us. Satan will do anything to keep you away from the temple. I'm glad we didn't let him win.

OK. This was not a fair weekend for you. But guess what? You made it! And everyone survived! Sometimes I think things like this are the MOST hard on the mom, because you worry about everyone and everything before yourself. I'm so glad that your little getaway worked out though, and that you got to go to the temple. Call me ANYTIME!!
Wow, Asley! What a crazy string of experiences! I wish I was closer so I could help out. Hang in there!!
